LESSONS FOR
CHILDREN

BUILDING LIFELONG SKILLS

Learning a musical instrument has lifelong benefits for children, improving many other areas of their learning and life: focus, independent learning, co-ordination, mindfulness and self-esteem.

Children learn musical instruments with more speed and ease than adults but they also need more excitement and variety in the lessons, as well as more guidance and structure in their practice.

Our lessons are light hearted and fun and each student is given a practice plan for between lessons to make sure they (and their adults) know exactly how to improve.

Lessons are usually 1 hour which are more suited to children aged 7 and over.

LESSONS FOR
ADULTS

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN

Do you ever wish you'd learned to play? Or maybe you gave up as a child and always regretted it?  It's never too late: you can always learn a new skill.

Learning an instrument as an adult is completely different experience to learning as a child, so my approach to teaching it is completely different.

I create a bespoke course for each student, with an individual practice plan that will tell you not just what to practice but how to practice, helping you to progress as quickly as possible. Let me know your aims, what kind of music you dream of playing, how long you have to practice every day and I can create a program that's perfect for you.

I currently have a few spaces for new students. Want to get started? Drop me a line.

MARK SMITH

BMus (Hons) PGDip LRAM

I've worked as a professional Musician and Conductor in London for over 10 years. I've worked on some of London's biggest West End musicals, including "Matilda", "Jersey Boys", "Mamma Mia!", "The Book of Mormon", "Waitress", "Motown" and "Dreamgirls".

I've also worked with bands like Little Mix on The X Factor, helping set their routines for the live shows. Most recently I was asked to work on the Movie adaptation of "Matilda the Musical" for Netflix, with Emma Thompson and Stephen Graham.

Before that, I studied for a Music Degree at King's College, London and a Postgraduate Diploma at The Royal Academy of Music, as well as gaining an LRAM teaching qualification.

But my greatest passion has always been teaching.  In my work as a Musical Director I've been invited to teach in several Universities including The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Trinity Laban Conservatoire and The Royal Academy of Music, working with students at Degree level, but I'm equally happy teaching beginners on their first lesson!

I teach from my home in Balham, South West London.
